After a lonnnnnng hiatus on my blog, my style has pretty much stayed the same in certain aspects (I’m still worshipping Stevie Nicks), but I’ve also developed a more sophisticated taste. You know those outfits that were actually thrown together? This was one of them. I wanted my return to my blog to be rooted in pop culture and one of my favorite styles: grunge.
From my love of the effortless beauty of 90s supermodels to the American classics such as denim, floral and plaid prints, the grungy scene has always appealed to me. I think it is actually one of my favorite styles that I feel the most “me” in. The cultural scene of the 90s is rooted in Nirvana worshipping for me, and one of my favorite looks of the iconic decade is Kurt Cobain’s outfit that he wore for his MTV Unplugged Nirvana performance. The recordings from this performance are the absolute best. The acoustic performance is so raw and real, just like how the grunge style is.

While Kurt is rocking a mohair mixed sweater (that sold for the price of four years of college tuition) in his look, I decided to pair my vintage boyfriend jeans that I have ripped up with a ribbed long sleeve crop top underneath a hi-lo floral blouse with little intricate buttons going up the front. Although it is hard to see here, I’m wearing one of my favorite silver chain chokers that is so simple and delicate. As per usual, I’ve paired this look with my signature black moto boots and messy hair with a top knot.
One of the reasons why I love fashion so much is because of the history of fashion styles. Whether it be the mod 60s or the brighter palette of the 80s, I love to soak it all in and transform it into my own aesthetic.
